Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) held off a number of assaults from GC rival Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) to outlive the hilly remaining stage of the Volta a Catalunya in Barcelona and declare the general win.
The Slovenian crammed in a uncommon hole in his stage racing palmarès together with his 18th GC win, placing the primary blow within the rivalry that may see them go head-to-head on the Giro d’Italia in Could.
He weathered a number of accelerations to hold on to Evenepoel, the pair racing in the direction of the end collectively after leaving the peloton behind at 28km to go. Roglič led the way in which down the ultimate descent and into the ultimate kilometre, whereas Evenepoel jumped from the wheel inside the ultimate 100 metres to say his second stage win of the race.
